[ȓə 'prɔvɪnstaʊn 'pleɪəz], 1915 in Provincetown (Massachusetts) gegründete Theatertruppe, die in Abwendung vom kommerziellen Broadwaytheater und zunächst orientiert an europäischen Vorbildern (u. a. A. Strindberg) die Erneuerung des amerikanischen Dramas einleitete. Für die P. P. schrieben u. a. E. O'Neill, Susan Glaspell, S. Anderson, Edna St. Vincent Millay, E. E. Cummings. Die Truppe bestand bis 1929.
